Spray-on anesthetic prevents premature ejaculation in U.S. trials


The first U.S. trials of a spray-on anesthetic for the penis showed that it increased the time to ejaculation nearly five-fold, providing the first good solution for premature ejaculation, researchers reported today.

The findings are very similar to those obtained in a European study released in April 2009.

Premature ejaculation is generally defined as ejaculation that occurs within a minute after insertion of the penis into the vagina, causing distress to both parties.

The condition is thought to affect as many as one in three U.S. men ages 18 to 59, about twice as many as those who suffer from erectile dysfunction.

The new trial, led by Dr. Michael G. Wyllie of Plethora enrolled 256 patients at 38 centers in the U.S., Canada and Poland. Their average duration of intercourse was less than 0.6 minutes.

Wyllie reported today at a San Diego meeting of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America that men receiving the drug increased their intercourse time to an average of 2.6 minutes, compared with an increase to only 0.8 minutes in the placebo group.

The benefits persisted for the three months of the study and both men and women reported greater satisfaction with their sexual experiences. No significant adverse effects were observed.

MS: I seriously think that the problem highlighted is merely the tip of the iceberg. Anyway, the good thing about this one is apparently, no condoms are necessary to prevent numbing the woman. THREE TIMES A LAY

MS ADVISORY

I read in the news the other day about a father of three who was diagnosed with HIV+.

What I found particularly disturbing about the story was that although he said he was paying for what he did - visiting a hooker every time he travels and not practicing safe sex - he does not realise that his follies have affected and destroyed the lives of his three children aged between four and nine years of age. Thanks for all your votes during this poll. Unfortunately, for some reason, the poll still had 12 days to run before, for some reason, it was taken offline by dear old Google. Thankfully, I had garnered enough votes to get some sort of pattern. So I'm quite happy with it.

I know this is a little late since this minor revamp of Missus Singapore was actually scheduled for the website's fourth anniversary on 1 May.

I've been reminded about it for more than several times. So for all those you sent me kind reminders, hope this new look will appease you guys.
