A CLOSE SHAVE

I'm not sure if I'm blessed or cursed with it but the hair down there is really thick and curly if I leave it untouched. From a closely shaven crop to a bush in a matter of days sees me grooming myself at least twice a week.

Some men like it bare, as I do but others like a retro bush for some reason. The only thing I can be sure of is that I have become somewhat of an expert with pruning, I must say. I've tried all sorts of methods and tools but ultimately, for me at least, with thick hair, shaving with a man's shaver works best.

However, the blade has to be new or no more than a few days old to achieve optimum results. Forget the expensive creams. It's all a matter or warm water and baby lotion. Do however check before hand if you are sensitive to baby lotion because I've come across some women who develop a rash soon after using it.

Find a lotion that's best for you.

Take a warm shower before. Dip a face towel in a basin of hot water and let it set. Sometime after or during your warm shower, place the towel where you intend to shave. This I find will soften the hair and open up the pores. You can tell the difference by pulling out a single hair which you will find is not as painful as compared to doing it at other times.

With your skin held taut, shave along the grain to prevent a razor burn. Here is the challenge because the hair down there is not exactly as consistently placed as hair elsewhere on your body. So at times you might have to change direction of your shaving movement to accommodate the different directions of the grain. I've come to realise this the painful way over the years. Patience is key.

Soon after you are done, splash cold water (I mean really cold water like from the refrigerator) on the area. Dry it and rub a tiny dip of lotion over the area. This offers an excellent finish with no after-shave itch. It also has given me a better shave that lasts considerably longer (up to five days for me).

Hope that helps.

CELEBRIDICKS

I really love this! It was sent in by a gal-pal whom I got to know from my blog. Eileen is a regular reader from Nebraska, US. Thanks so much.

It does make you wonder if a guy's dick reflects his personality. Actually, I don't think so because thinking back, eons ago, there was this really hairless guy. Except for his head of hair, he had none elsewhere. His armpits and chest were bare and he had no leg or arm hair.

But by gosh! You had to have a map to navigate through the thick dense forest he had going down there. And this even though he had a decently-sized dick.

Those were the days when pubic hair was the in-thing. Thank god most people subscribe to thinning or shaving these days.

WAXED: MAN OR DUCK?

Is it just me or does Brazil sound like a very masculine-sounding country? My theory is that because of this, bikini-line waxing is called such - Brazilian Waxing. By doing so, it opens up another 50% of the market - saying to men, 'Hey, it's okay for men to get a wax too!".

I certainly am not against men having a clean shave down there but it's a little bit like knowing a woman has to shave everyday - her face I mean! It's fine but duh!

A UK guy friend of mine told me the other day that more and more men are going for Brazilian waxing in London, very much like the trend in Singapore. I can't cringe enough.

The men featured in this local magazine talk about having a hairless crouch like it's going to attract more women at the pool. So like a true journalistic voyeur, I couldn't depend on my own personal views. Thus I sought the views of several women during my weekly jog to the beach.

I'm glad to report that of the 14 women whose sun-tanning privacy I invaded, only four didn't mind men who went for waxing provided it wasn't obvious when they were in their speedos. Another three were not against it at all. The rest, like me, all squirmed. (See, Missus Singapore is not so different after all!)

"We like to see some hair down there, not too much, but not bare!" seemed to be commonly echoed.

One busty Australian woman in the late 20s even went on to say that while body hair may be acceptable to some extent, "a bare groin just kills the thrill of looking at a men in the buff. It's like they are primed to be served as waxed duck or something."

I really don't mind it so much but for men to be raving about it like they did in the magazine, I've to admit that it somehow just doesn't sit right.
