New Year's Gunfire On The West Bank (But Hawthorne Neighborhood Wins The MEAT RAFFLE!!!!)

On the last night of 2008, Hawthorne's own Bryan Thao Worra managed to win one of the "meat raffles" at the Nomad World Pub, which Jeff Skrenes and I managed to parlay into opportunities to pick up women. (Well, at least to TALK to a few women)

Procuring some sticks from a nearby hedge, and using the blazing patio fire at the Nomad, Jeff and I roasted some of Bryan's high-quality sausages (duck with herbs, lamb and blackberry and...something with, like....beef) which immediately attracted the attention of women on the patio. Which we knew it would. Some dancing resulted. It was a good New Year's Eve, by recession standards.

While we were out on the patio, what sounded like gunfire could be clearly heard on the Cedar Ave. S., as though somebody was firing into the air to bring in the new year.

Pictured above; top to bottom, "Sherry," (spelling of name unknown) a student in neurology, pouts because she didn't win one of the meat raffles. But she's so CUTE when she pouts. Below, Jeff holds Bryan's sausage.
