NBA - A FAMILY ORIENTED SPORT?

I sat down over the weekend to catch some NBA basketball with my significant other on the PC and was pretty surprised by the cheerleaders during the breaks. It seems that they are more skimpily dressed these days than ever.

Sure, it very much started as a man-only sport but these days, it is being marketed as a family sport. While I am not against erotic dance or even striptease shows, I have to admit that seeing all these women with their boobs and asses all over the place in the presence of children is a tad uncomfortable for me.

If you are catering to the men or even for adults only, then sure go ahead. But there were kids, barely 10 all over the arena when these girls came bouncing out at half-time. I would definitely want to kill for that sort of curves but seriously. Get the mascots to mess around and be goofy. That is the kind of entertainment kids will enjoy. We should really try to let them enjoy their innocence for as long as they can instead of bombarding them with too much NBA - Nips, Boobs and Ass.

CONDOMWEALTH GAMES

Finally, the debacle that is the Commonwealth Games is finally over. I've honestly never followed a games so much in my life, although I have to say, it wasn't the sports that caught my attention. But the top of the story has to be the clogged drainage system due to athletes throwing condoms down the toilet.

The good thing is that safe sex is the order of the day. The bad news is that this is verification that athletes by and large are idiots. People are so quick to condemn the Indian organisers. Yes, they have had their challenges no doubt but the idiots who decide to flush condoms down the toilet really need to be taken to task.

For heaven's sake dispose of them caps the right way, swallow them after use!

GRID GIRLS

We recently hosted the F1 race here and it was a blast, at least for some of the grid girls I understand. If you follow the F1, you will noticed that in every country that the race is staged, there are always your now traditional grid girls who receive the drivers and some officials.

However, if you also follow the grid girls closely, you will also discover sadly, that the Singapore group are really atrocious. You got fat ones, out of shape ones, some that look like TVs and some that you just don't want to look at. I feel a little cheated by the ones who select these girls because they are certainly not a good representation of the beauty that is available on our small island.

Of course there are a few that stand out (about four of them or so) but by and large, they suck. A photographer friend of mine who covered the event actually affirmed the quality of girls when he shot them doing the kind of things that big girls shouldn't be caught doing outdoors - digging their noses and spitting! Enough of dumb-ass grid girls - bring out the Grid boys for us gals.

NUDE CYCLISTS

Here is a photo sent in by GeeGee. It's the kind of bicycle race that you are unlikely to find in these parts. Such a pity. But I think men will always win such events - nude bicycle races - because when push comes to shove, guys can always turn to an extra gear. Such cheats!

However, I must add that when accidents occur, I think us women do tend to handle it better. We've got better natural padding, well at least some of us do.

No nude cycling here in Singapore, although I did experience something like that once over at the East Coast beach in Singapore. Two girls were cycling side by side with bikini tops and shorts. I was cycling as well but in the opposite direction.

So anyway, one had her hand on the other as if to use her friend for pedal power. Then out of the blue, this boy cut in front of them. I think he was trying to retrieve his ball. Kudos for the girls' quick reaction to avoid him but the girl who had her hand on her friend's shoulder, suddenly and instinctively grabbed and pulled at her friend's bikini and off it went.

It was a funny sight that unfolded right in front of me. But I must say she was one cool gal - gradually brought her bike to a stop, got her bikini top from her friend and put it back on without any fuss. Well, actually, if I was endowed like her - she was huge - I would certainly take my time covering them up again! Give the world a free show. Everyone loves a free show.

BABY-FRIENDLY BEER

Thank you Jamie for this ad. Why didn't they have such beer when I was expecting? But to be honest, beer never appealed to me when I was younger. I'd rather go for the alcoholic cocktails - the dainty stuff. At most it was a light beer for me. Nowadays, I find myself drinking more beer and trying out all the little unknown brands.

Of course it helps that the significant other is a hobbyist beer historian of sorts. I always liked the rugged sort but I just had to have one extreme of it - sports and beer lover is one thing but to be obsessed with it, that's a new ball game! See what I mean, it's even entering my mind.

GO CELTICS!

Just got word that a friend of ours from New York is coming to these parts in November. She used to be a former Celtics cheer-dancer back in 2005. Obviously with my hubby a die-hard Celtics fan, he is ecstatic. This is the fourth time we are meeting her. The first time was when we met up in Bali in 2004 and thereafter when we were taken around New York when we visited. But me and her have kept in constant contact via email since.

But more to that, she has a body to die for and I'm not sure if the hubby is more thrilled about the fact that she rubbed shoulders with some of his favourites or for her curves. Probably the latter. But seriously, have you seen some of these women? They are hot!
But what he doesn't know and I'll leave her to tell him is that she actually supports the Knicks! LOL! Trust us, we will probably be having lots of sweaty fun! All I can do now is don the cap colours!
